40 Days of Purpose
|
The most basic question everyone faces in life is Why am I here? What is my purpose? Self-help books suggest that people should look within, at their own desires and dreams, but this book says the starting place must be with God and his eternal purposes for each life. Real meaning and significance comes from understanding and fulfilling God’s purposes for putting us on earth. The book will help you understand why you are alive and God's amazing plan for you--both here and now, and for eternity. It will guide you through spiritual journey that will transform your answer to life's most important question: What on earth am I here for? Knowing God's purpose for creating you will reduce your stress, focus your energy, simplify your decisions, give meaning to your life, and, most importantly, prepare you for eternity“ |

Lent 2009 - Our Journey Watch our 40 Days of Purpose reflection movie below: During Lent 2009 here at All Saints we embarked upon the 40 Days of Purpose campaign. The campaign involved reading, studying and sharing as a church the book 'Purpose Driven Life' written by Rick Warren. To see a video extract of Rick Warren himself talking about the book CLICK HERE Over 50 members of our congregation took part in the small groups that ran over the course of the 40 Days campaign....below are some of the comments that we received form those who took part: "The purpose driven life is an inspirational, thought provoking study of God's plan for our lives. I heartily recommend others to read it. From our weekly study groups we have made new friends and have developed a deeper understanding of each others needs. I believe our church is growing by faith, friendship and love and as we, guided by the Holy Spirit, find it easier to talk about our belief to others we are fulfilling God's mission. I pray that we can continue to meet beyond Lent so that our two services can bond togther as the 'Body of Christ'" "I found the 40 days of purpose gave me the opportunity to step back from my life and really take stock. It is very easy to rush from work to family and back again without taking time out to think about our real purpose. I really enjoyed my small group meetings and felt very welcomed by everyone. It was really great to meet other church members particularly from the 10.45 service" "By meeting together in small groups I have found that a fellowship has been formed with people I hardly knew. We have been able to discuss and share with one another our own points of view and how we could develop and strengthen our faith" "The course was interesting and thought provoking. It made me think about my attitude to God and to other peopleand to value relationships with friends and family. It gave opportunity to examine the use of time and talents and to see that everyone is different but has something to offer. It was good to talk to people of different age groups and to value other opinions. I enjoyed making new friends in the church family" "A brilliant fantastic read. You truly learn about yourself where you are to go & to work towards God's purpose in your life. I highly recommend that this book 'A Purpose Driven Life' to be on ones must read list to reflect on the direction of your life" |
